"Sorry to disappoint," he says with a grin. "I promise it'll be worth it."

He's not sure that's a promise he can keep, but it's worth leaving the dorms for him. He can just hope Tannis's curiosity will mean the same for her.

When she arrives, he meets her at the door, grinning apologetically. "Sorry, the dorms are bugged. I can't guarantee the office isn't, but there's fewer of them here."
